Our new Ikea purchases

We went to Ikea again. We needed a new fridge since the one that came with the house was 15 years old and was leaking water everywhere. I also found the willow sticks I wanted to buy six months ago. Now I need to find a big vase to display them in ( I'm thinking a Roberts 50% off coupon).

House Update

So where do I start? We put in some can lights and painted the walls with Behr's Granite Boulder. It is a gray color. Elisa and Paul came over last Friday night and helped us start putting in the wood floor. They came back Saturday to finish the job. We started out tearing out the baseboards, doors and door jams so the floor could go in correctly. Elisa and I started to put together the IKEA cabinets. Matt and I finished putting them together the next day. We also got the microwave in.

Here are some photos on the work in progress.

Kitchen Pictures

Here are some before shots, and in the process shots. Enjoy.

Before we took the cabinets out.

Look close, the upper cabinets are gone.

The original yellow Linoleum
Shot of the sink area.
The original wallpaper- uncovered this while putting in a new window.
The lip is gone, Now we can have our cabinets to the ceiling.
New drywall behind the sink. We had to replace it since mold had decided to grow.

Kitchen Duty

We have a major case of "while you were at it," syndrome. We moved from remodeling the bathroom to remodeling the kitchen. It was time to bring the poor kitchen into the 21st century. Sometimes a dab of paint is not enough. We spent all of Friday night at IKEA picking out our new cabinets, countertops and accessories (sink, faucet, microwave.) On Saturday we picked out our flooring at Home Depot. We chose Thomasville walnut engineered hardwood flooring.

Petit Collage

I thought this would be cute in a kids room. Technically you wouldn't have to use the elephant or the owl. You could use any design you wanted.

Thanks Martha

Personalized Hand Soap

My sister gave me a bottle of soap for Christmas that has a piece of plastic inserted in the bottle with a personalized message. I was speaking with my sister-in-law about it the other day and she was wondering how it was done.

Amber this is for you!
